Ayurveda is an ancient healing system which is over 5,000 years old. It has a specific way of understanding us as individuals and how we get out of balance. This can be through emotional, mental and physical stresses as well as inherited patterns on all these levels. It then helps us to provide a pathway to return us to a balanced state where possible and helps us to live in relaxed alignment within ourselves.
Ayurveda can be translated to the ‘science of life’. This is very significant as it means that it fundamentally understands that the way a human; thinks, perceives the world around them and acts within the world, is intrinsically linked to their health and wellbeing.
What is also quite unique to Ayurveda is the understanding that there are disease stages present before a full-blown illness manifests. By looking at the pulse, tongue, skin and nails amongst other things a picture of the state of your health can be obtained. So even if odd symptoms or an obscure collection of symptoms are present they can be understood through the eyes of Ayurveda. Ayurveda, therefore, can play a big role in health promotion and disease prevention as well treating manifested illnesses.
