Ayurveda Training Course in Applied Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a beautiful and elegant science that is a wonderful way to explain the highly engineered and super complex human. Over 2000 years ago ‘the science of life’ was brought into existence. Now in the 21st century much of this millennial old science is being proven through modern science and verifying why so much of this gracious art of healing works.

Through mine and Andrew Shakeshaft’s (from Essential Ayurveda) both with 20+ years of practice we have co-created a highly practical and applicable course in Ayurveda. Our intention is to equip you with a level of foundational and practical knowledge of Ayurveda so that you can help treat yourself and others with this magical science. We will be joined by guest teachers from India along the way.

We both have a great interest in trauma, psychology and scientific research as well as Ayurveda. This gives us a particular ability and skill set that enables us to translates a lot of this ancient wisdom into modern understanding.

At the end of the training you will be certified as in Applied Ayurveda and have the opportunity to convert to a 2 year Diploma in Integrative Ayurveda. This will involve further training in Amnanda and Lifebalance. If you have already done these trainings then these can count towards it.

WHO IS THE TRAINING COURSE FOR?

Anyone who has a passion for learning about health, disease prevention and treatment.
Are you looking to take your field of work in a different direction?
Would you like to work in an allied field and have a desire to enhance your tool kit to help other people?

WHAT WILL I LEARN IN THIS COURSE?

In this course you will learn:
  1. Integrative approaches of Ayurvedic and Modern medicine
  2. Diagnostics of eyes, nails, tongue and skin
  3. How to diagnose Prakruti constitution / Vikruti state of imbalance
  4. How to assess the state of Agni (digestive and metabolic fire) and Ama
  5. How to work with a range of common health conditions
  6. How to give a range of Ayurvedic Treatments
  7. How to use your kitchen pharmacy to improve health and remedy
  8. Core principles of nutrition and dietetics
  9. How to increase Sattva mental balance
  10. Herbs and Pharmacology
  11. Rasayana rejuvenation and Vajikarana Virility Therapy
  12. Designing wellness plans

 

HOW WILL THIS TRAINING BE TAUGHT?

We believe that face to face learning is imperative and therefore some of the course will be taught in this way. However, weΒ  also take advantage of modern learning techniques too and we will be delivering a lot online both live and recorded. Anatomy and Physiology for example will be delivered online along with video learning and assessments. Ayurvedic treatments are an essential part of Ayurveda and so there will be face to face tuition of a suite of health promoting treatments. The Ayurveda Training course takes twelve months to complete, with 2 weekends per semester face to face teaching and a host of online support. Indian classical music played by a 5th generation Indian classical music played by a 5th generation master πŸ˜²πŸ˜²πŸ’– 

We were treated in Norwich last night to a wonderful exploration of late evening ragas. Ragas are different melodies that are played at different times of the day to attune the human with the environment via the medium of sound in the context of the musician and audience communicating. There were also solo performances of these incredible instruments. So special.

Listening to live music lights up the brain in similar ways to actually playing music. With the sounds of the tabla, sarod, surbahar and rubab, I could literally feel my nervous system and brain being ignited. Studies show how neurogenesis of the brain occurs and dopamine is released when we engage with music that we really get the feels for.

I would share the recipe but I massively freestyled and have no idea of what quantities went in πŸ˜†πŸ™ƒπŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ will have to repeat another time.

Did you know pistachio nuts are excellent to have before bed to aid sleep? They are packed with magnesium, vit B6 and Tryptophan. You can make a delicious milky drink with them. Just follow my nut milk recipe substituting pistachios for almonds πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹ awesome for pacifying vata heads

I always get so excited when wild garlic and asparagus comes into season. I look forward to it for the whole winter. I have been celebrating the wild garlic in lots of cooked ways in the last 2 weeks. However, today with it being 16 degrees here I decided to make a spring slaw, served with new potatoes and garden mint, Norfolk asparagus and falafels πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

1/2 spring cabbage shredded
1 grated carrot 
4 wild garlic leaves and flowers (substitute any other green leaves or herbs)
1/2 lemon juiced
Generous olive oil
1 tbs sunflower seeds 
Unrefined salt and pepper
Handful walnuts

Resetting my spice tin for the spring, keeping warming and digestion supporting spices in there while introducing some green cleansing herbs.

I love my spice tins so much. I actually have two on the go in the kitchen as it is just so easy to add the spices you want quickly when cooking without having to rummage through the cupboards. Spicing food is so important for supporting our Agni / digestive fire #gutmicrobiome and assimilation of food. As well as of course making it taaaaaasty which also supports the above πŸ˜‰πŸ˜πŸ€˜
